Position Overview

Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) is seeking an Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor for its 2026 summer season. The Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor supports the Wardrobe Supervisor in the execution of wardrobe operations during technical rehearsals and performances. This role is hands‑on and works directly with dressers, performers, and Stage Management to support costume changes, maintenance, and backstage organization. The Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor may serve as the primary point of contact when the Wardrobe Supervisor is not present.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Support the Wardrobe Supervisor during tech and performances
  • Assist with supervising dressers and overhire wardrobe staff
  • Support costume tracking, maintenance, and repairs during runs
  • Assist with quick changes and backstage wardrobe operations
  • Communicate clearly with Stage Management regarding costume needs and issues
  • Help maintain organized wardrobe, laundry, and storage areas
  • Assist with training and onboarding of wardrobe crew as needed
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in wardrobe or backstage costume work preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently during performances
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
  • Interest in leadership and wardrobe supervision a plus
Schedule + Commitment
  • Full‑season commitment required
  • Positions are scheduled for 40 hours per week
  • Evening and weekend work required based on rehearsal and performance schedules
  • Overtime is limited, requires prior approval, and is typically confined to technical rehearsal periods
Compensation

Competitive weekly rate, commensurate with experience
Housing and travel assistance may be available
