Position OverviewTheatre By The Sea (TBTS) is seeking a Wardrobe Supervisor for its 2026 summer season. The Wardrobe Supervisor oversees wardrobe operations during rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances for a four‑show musical season.
This role serves as the primary lead for wardrobe and dressers during run and tech, working closely with the Costume Shop Manager, Assistant Costume Shop Manager, and Stage Management to ensure costumes are maintained, tracked, and supported throughout the season.
This position is ideal for an experienced wardrobe professional who values organization, consistency, and calm leadership in a fast‑paced performance environment.
Primary Responsibilities- Serve as the Wardrobe Supervisor for all productions
- Oversee wardrobe operations during technical rehearsals and performances
- Supervise and support wardrobe crew and dressers, including overhire
- Coordinate costume tracking, maintenance, and repairs during runs
- Communicate closely with Stage Management regarding costume notes, quick changes, and backstage needs
- Liaise with the Costume Shop regarding alterations, repairs, and notes
- Assist with training and onboarding of dressers
- Maintain organized wardrobe areas, laundry systems, and costume storage
- Ensure safe, efficient, and respectful backstage working practices
- Prior experience as a Wardrobe Supervisor or equivalent role in regional or summer stock theatre
- Strong understanding of costume maintenance, quick changes, and backstage workflow
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to supervise and support a team under performance pressure
- Calm, professional demeanor in live‑performance environments
Full-season commitment required
Positions are scheduled for 40 hours per week
Evening and weekend work required based on rehearsal and performance schedules
Overtime is limited, requires prior approval, and is typically confined to technical rehearsal periods
CompensationCompetitive weekly rate, commensurate with experience
