As part of our Automation Engineering team at the Rhode Island facility, you will support complex utility automation initiatives, lead projects, and provide operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to commercial manufacturing and utilities operations, specific to process control, automation infrastructure, and utility systems.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, process engineering, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation teams to implement operational improvements.
  • Lead and support technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and resolution of process control issues related to electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of equipment, automation, or process issues in the field.
  • Develop original code to support operational changes and optimizations on multiple utility PLC platforms.
  • Perform system owner responsibilities such as change control, maintenance, backup/restore, and disaster recovery.
  • Innovate solutions to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard automation principles.
  • Analyze and present results for operational issues and engineering projects of small scope and complexity.
  • Communicate with multiple levels within the organization to highlight issues and propose solutions.
  • Provide 24x7 on‑call support of Automation systems on a rotational basis.
  • Apply industry best practices and tools to deliver innovative solutions.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of automation and/or engineering experience, OR
  • Associate's degree and 6 years of automation and/or engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of automation and/or engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 3+ years experience in Automation Engineering in a GMP manufacturing environment with at least 1+ year in life sciences.
  • 3+ years combined experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and Factory Talk suite.
  • Experience with Siemens Step‑7/TIA Portal, WinCC, Siemens Desigo, iFix SCADA, OSI PI, Emerson Delta

    V.
  • Direct experience in a regulated environment (GMP, OSHA, EPA) and understanding of cGMP.
  • Knowledge of ISA‑S88, 21 CFR Part 11, Validation, and GAMP.
  • Experience with WFI generation/storage/distribution, clean steam, chillers/boilers, gas storage/distribution, and building automation.
  • Experience with validation and change control methodology.
