Camp JORI is seeking an enthusiastic, community-driven Assistant
Camp Director to help lead year-round operations and create transformative experiences for campers, families, and staff. This is a full‑time position with on‑site housing available
, and compensation is commensurate with experience (~$50,000 to ~$80,000, flexible).
We are hiring now for this role – the start date is completely flexible, but immediate hiring is preferred. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
About the RoleThe Assistant Director will assist the Camp Director in overseeing all aspects of camper experience, including camp programming, staffing, and operations. This individual will also be heavily involved community engagement. This is a unique opportunity to build on a strong foundation while shaping the future of a beloved camp through creativity, leadership, and care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Camp Director in year‑round planning and execution of summer camp operations
- Help to hire, train, and manage seasonal and year‑round staff
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and Jewishly rooted camp culture
- Collaborate with lay leadership on strategic planning and vision
- Assist in camper recruitment and family communications
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and licensing requirements
- Support the Camp Director in managing the camp budget, vendors, and facility‑related needs
- Serve as one the camp’s year‑round ambassadors to families and the broader community
- Strong preference for prior experience as an Assistant Director, Camp Director or equivalent role
- Must have a minimum of 3‑5 years in summer camp leadership
- Proven team leadership and management experience
- Passion for Jewish values, community‑building, and youth development
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Candidate must be willing to live on camp property during the camp season
- Candidate must live in New England year‑round (
