PositionSummary
This position functions as a Transportation Specialist (Entry/Senior) within the Project Development Section of the North Central Region and is responsible for the coordination and development of in‑house transportation improvement projects in both the design and construction phases. Primary duties vary with project phase and may include additional activities relating to construction or design.
During the construction phase, the specialist serves as an assistant construction project leader, performs inspection and assurance testing, investigates and resolves testing differences between WisDOT and contractor, prepares project layout, and performs public relations duties. The specialist also assists in completing studies, reports, documentation, plans, and specifications necessary for planning and design.

Schedule‑range 14‑15, annual salary $54,766‑$60,590 plus benefits. - Senior:
Schedule‑range 14‑14, annual salary $64,480‑$74,880 plus benefits.
A twelve‑month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will follow the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

It requires independent travel for field work, including overnight stays, in all seasons and adverse weather, high traffic, bending on a limited basis, and lifting approximately 70 lbs. QualificationsEntry level: Education or experience with engineering principles and methods (including use of engineering software, reviewing plats or surveys, interpreting technical documents, construction inspection, material testing, preparing plans and bid documents, etc.).
Senior level: Extensive education or experience with engineering principles and methods.
