The Membership Associate plays a key leadership role within the member service department, strengthening our community through exceptional engagement, strategic outreach, and relationship-building. As a welcoming ambassador of the Y, you will cultivate meaningful partnerships and foster lasting connections with members, guests, and corporate partners to support membership growth and community impact.
What you will do at the Y:Grow and Strengthen Our Community
- Build authentic relationships through community outreach, networking, and partnership development.
- Conduct cause-driven tours that focus on member goals, not just facility features.
- Respond to leads and inquiries using a consultative, listen-first approach.
- Support monthly membership and retention goals aligned with community impact.
- Develop and steward corporate and community partnerships.
- Represent the YMCA at local events, civic gatherings, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with branch leadership and program teams to create meaningful member experiences.
- Ensure every person who walks through our doors feels seen, valued, and welcomed.
- Connect members to group exercise classes, programs, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives.
- Promote a culture grounded in caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Maintain high standards of facility excellence and professionalism.
- Partner with the Membership Director and branch staff to execute strategic membership plans.
- Support member engagement initiatives, open houses, and community events.
- Provide guidance and leadership to fellow staff while promoting YMCA values and mission.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in membership sales and customer service.
- Passion for sales, networking, and relationship-building.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for branch and community events.
