Position Title: Maintenance Technician (Commercial Facilities)
Location: Reston, VA 20190
Clearance Requirements: NA
Position Status: Contract
Pay Rate: $30/hr
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Maintenance Technician to support multiple commercial properties within an assigned geographic territory. This role is ideal for a hands‑on professional with strong experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities management, preventive maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical repair, and general construction trades
. In this field‑based position, you will travel locally between properties (company vehicle provided) to perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance while ensuring facilities remain safe, fully operational, and maintained to high standards. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional service, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring building systems operate efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair activities across commercial properties.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, minor electrical systems, carpentry, drywall, painting, roofing, and general building systems
. - Conduct minor plumbing repairs including toilets, urinals, valve assemblies, faucets, and automatic flush systems.
- Perform minor electrical repairs (fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts) in compliance with state regulations.
- Complete drywall repairs, painting, carpentry work, and general facility upkeep to maintain “like‑new” conditions.
- Conduct facility inspections and asset evaluations.
- Respond to emergency service requests and urgent maintenance issues.
- Utilize mobile devices and maintenance management systems (CMMS) to:
- Access and update work orders
- Submit service reports with photos
- Track time, expenses, and materials
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to ensure timely service delivery.
- Provide project estimates for larger repair or maintenance work as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, building codes, safety policies, and company procedures.
- Attend safety meetings and complete required compliance training.
- Travel daily between local properties.
This role offers the opportunity to work independently while being supported by a collaborative operations team.
Required Skills/Education- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or property maintenance
. - Hands‑on experience with:
- HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting
- Plumbing systems
- Electrical systems (non‑licensed scope)
- Carpentry and drywall repair
- General building mechanical systems
- Experience using mobile work order systems, tablets, or CMMS platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety policies, operating manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Trade certifications or technical training (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.) preferred.
- Experience in commercial property services strongly preferred.
