Overview
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer IV to join a team responsible for building, managing, and maintaining the Verisign private cloud platform on which mission-critical services depend. We value operations professionals with strong technical skills, initiative, and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
We seek individuals with experience in open-source virtualization platforms and Linux, and with orchestration and development tools.
Responsibilities- Build, operate, and maintain our on-prem virtualization platform
- Implement automation of operation procedures in line with Verisign change policies and industry best practices
- Monitor and resolve platform alerts
- Troubleshoot platform and user problems
- Document problem-solving steps
- Ensure compliance with vulnerability management and information security standards; support regular patching of platform elements
- Participate in on-call rotation for tier 3 support
- Experience with Open Stack configuration and administration
- Experience with Kubernetes administration and support
- Solid experience as a Linux system administrator in a large-scale environment
- Solid experience with shell scripting, Python, and Ansible
- Experience implementing automation pipelines using Jenkins
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform
- Experience maintaining highly available services
- Experience managing server hardware, firmware, out-of-band, and BIOS configurations
- Solid understanding of network protocols and security best practices
- Fluency with development tools such as Git Hub and Jira
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly describe complex issues, gather requirements, and produce technical documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience
- Prior experience developing or operating an Open Stack platform in a production environment
- Effective collaborator able to work with teams toward company goals
- Self-motivated and driven to produce high-quality products
- Highly adaptable, able to juggle multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to ongoing learning and skill development
This position is based in our Reston, VA office with a hybrid work environment.
The pay range is $135,800 - $183,800. The anticipated base salary may vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
