Temporary Payroll Specialist

Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 2–3 days in office; onsite daily during training period)

Assignment Type: Contract (3-month assignment with potential to extend or convert to permanent)

Compensation: $30–45/hour (based on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Addison Group is partnering with a well-established financial institution in Reston, VA, to hire a Payroll Specialist on a contract basis. This position will play a key role in supporting day-to-day payroll operations and assisting in a payroll process optimization initiative. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on ADP experience, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive, solution-driven mindset.

• Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees through ADP Workforce Now
  .
• Support benefits-related payroll activities, including 401(k) contributions, deductions, and step-up matches.
• Assist with payroll-related accruals and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions and employee data.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external consultants to review and streamline payroll workflows.
• Document and refine current payroll procedures during a multi-phase process improvement project.
• Respond promptly to employee payroll inquiries and ensure timely, compliant processing.
• Use Excel for payroll tracking, reporting, and analysis.

• 4–5 years of experience in payroll processing.
• ADP Workforce Now experience required.
• Experience processing both hourly and salaried payroll.
• Familiarity with benefits administration and payroll-related accounting (debits, credits, accruals).
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data-driven reporting.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive under deadlines.
• Degree not required; relevant experience prioritized.
