- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 14 years of experience in legislative affairs, government relations, or public advocacy, including developing positions and campaigns.
- 14 years of experience in working on capital‑intensive infrastructure projects (e.g., data centers, energy, utilities, real estate).
- 10 years of experience in political communications or technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, private sector, or relevant industry associations.
- Experience in people management.
- Experience leading scalable cross‑functional programs.
- Experience working with public policy teams and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Google’s infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As part of the Strategic Negotiation team, you will secure infrastructure to support Google’s growth, negotiating cost‑effective solutions and managing vendor relationships. The Public Affairs team builds Google’s reputation and presence among key decision makers. As the Sub‑Regional Public Affairs Lead, you will act as a strategic advisor, shaping data center initiatives to align with local and state priorities and building partnership opportunities with local institutions.
Responsibilities- Lead a team, setting and communicating individual and team priorities, and providing performance coaching.
- Execute investment in regional market opportunities and build public policy and community engagement activities.
- Develop and work on regional or market segment strategies for long‑term infrastructure development programs, influencing third‑party strategy at the executive level.
- Provide public policy thought leadership and build relationships within Google and externally by networking.
US base salary range: $214,000–$302,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Compensation details reflect base salary only and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
