Position Title: Senior AR Specialist

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid)

Assignment Type: Permanent Hire

Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000 annually

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior AR Specialist to oversee full-cycle accounts receivable operations across multiple entities. This role is responsible for managing collections, monitoring receivables, improving AR processes, and ensuring accurate reporting while collaborating closely with finance and operations leadership.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing high-volume collections in a multi-entity environment and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting. This position will serve as the primary owner of the AR function, including monitoring aging reports, resolving client discrepancies, and implementing strategies to improve cash flow and collection performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounts receivable function, including collections, monitoring receivable balances, and ensuring timely payment processing
  • Oversee accounts receivable activity across multiple entities and maintain accurate customer account records
  • Conduct high-volume collections outreach through phone calls and written correspondence to resolve outstanding balances
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, payment disputes, and delinquent accounts
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances
  • Collaborate with finance, billing, and operations teams to improve collection processes and support payment resolution
  • Coordinate regular meetings with internal teams to review delinquent accounts and discuss collection strategies
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations between accounting systems and AR tracking tools
  • Generate custom AR reports and key performance metrics for executive leadership
  • Monitor AR automation tools and assist with troubleshooting or system improvements when necessary
  • Prepare documentation related to lien notices, releases, and payment compliance requirements when applicable
  • Assist with legal escalations related to payment disputes and delinquent accounts
  • Support special projects and process improvements within the accounting and finance function
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of full-cycle accounts receivable and collections experience
  • Experience working in a multi-entity environment with high transaction volumes
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Experience working with accounting systems such as Quick Books, Sage, Deltek, or similar platforms
  • Proven track record of managing high-volume collections activity and resolving customer payment issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle difficult payment conversations professionally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
