Location& duties
Based out of Reston, VA, you’ll work with other geologists, engineers, scientists, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects in which you will learn from others and pass along your knowledge. You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive group of professional staff as you plan and execute field activities including well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, surface water and sediment sampling, and other relevant media;
conduct remediation system maintenance; prepare scopes of work for subcontracts; and coordinate with team. Office tasks include conducting data evaluation on field and laboratory data sets and preparing technical reports documenting completed activities and results.

Workload & environmentEstimated approximately 50% of your time will be spent on field project work (on job sites) and the other 50% of your time will consist of office work that will be completed in a hybrid work environment (you’ll be afforded the flexibility to work from both the office as well as from home as best suited to meet project delivery goals while maintaining balance).
Keyqualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, or other closely related degree
- Professional experience with delivering environmental site characterization and remediation projects, including fieldwork methodology/procedures and assessment/evaluation of data for various environmental media
- Experience working on project sites and overseeing subcontractors
- Experience leading teams toward a common goal
- 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain this certification
- Willingness to perform field work and travel 40‑60% (includes local travel in the Washington D.C. area (DMV) as well as travel outside of the region)
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to work in the Washington D.C. (DMV) area
- Master’s degree in engineering, geology, or other closely related degree
- Professional registration (e.g., Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist) or the intent to obtain and maintain professional certification
- Self‑driven time management and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, contractors, and clients
- Strong attention to detail when conducting field work and evaluating data
- Experience working on projects following the CERCLA or RCRA cleanup process
