Transportation/Traffic Engineer – Jacobs

- $85,000.00/yr – $/yr
- Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects focused on intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors.
- Conduct traffic operations and safety studies using tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, and HCM/HSM methodologies.
- Develop traffic control devices, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic designs incorporating traffic engineering requirements into roadway plans.
- Prepare plans using design software such as CADD, Open Roads Designer, and Micro Station.
- Prepare and present high‑quality technical reports to clients in virtual and in‑person settings.
- Apply a multimodal lens to every project—accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers across diverse environments.
- Knowledge of traffic engineering, transportation planning, and operations analysis.
- Proficiency in traffic modeling and simulation tools.
- Strong communication skills for client engagement and project presentations.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- EIT certification.
- Experience in traffic engineering and analysis, preferably 4–6 years.
- Hands‑on experience with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, Sidra, or similar tools.
- Proven ability to lead on‑call tasks and collaborate with VDOT and other clients.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- PTOE certification.
