Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on Terra Power’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. Terra Power, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium.

The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost‑competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing.

With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.

Other Team Natrium partners include GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Energy Northwest, Pacifi Corp, and Duke Energy, along with support from a number of national laboratories and universities. The Automation Engineer applies engineering software management/support expertise to a broad range of engineering computer-aided design/computer-aided engineering software that supports engineering work processes.

In this role, you will provide automation support to engineering teams on a project, including setup, training, application and process, software quality assurance and control, reporting, database administration, and close‑out of all construction automation software and applications. Your efforts will contribute to enhanced efficiency by ensuring project teams have adequate training and support.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership."

• Integrates primary engineering tools (i.e., Smart 3D, Smart Electrical, Smart Instrumentation, Smart P&, and other Integraph tools as needed, or equivalents) used by various engineering disciplines
• Manage and troubleshoot software issues
• Develop and enforce best practices for S3D usage, data standards, and workflows
• Train users on S3D functionalities, tools, and workflows
• Has a complete understanding of how upstream and downstream users are impacted by engineering data
• Sets up software for use by disciplines and functions
• Maintaining project title blocks and templates
• Develops and deploys reports, queries, material take‑offs, etc.
• Trains users on software and automation work processes
