Senior Pipe Stress Engineer

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a Senior Pipe Stress Engineer with Auto Pipe experience for a 12‑month contract in Reston, VA
.

This position supports the Natrium project, part of a DOE initiative to advance U.S. leadership in nuclear energy production. Natrium will play a key role with its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR).

Our client is targeting a base pay of $75.00–$90.00 per hour, based on experience.

This role is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and requires at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Essential duties include performing pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Code.

• Model piping systems using Bentley Auto Pipe to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
• Conduct stress review of isometrics based on span tables.
• Check work performed by others.
• Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost‑effective design.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
• May include certain lead responsibilities.

AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7‑8 years of experience, or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.

• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.1, and other relevant industry piping codes and standards.
• Prior experience using a computer pipe stress analysis program Auto Pipe.
