The Sustainability Intern will support the Mid-Atlantic Regional Sustainability Manager in implementing Turner’s ESG and sustainability initiatives across Maryland, DC, and Virginia. The role provides hands‑on experience in sustainability data tracking, project implementation, reduction strategies, and sustainability communications.
The internship aligns with Mid-Atlantic performance goals, including embodied carbon estimates, project reporting, waste diversion, and client sustainability engagement and supports regional data tracking and implementation efforts.

Core Responsibilities
  • Sustainability Data Tracking & Reporting (30–40%):
    Support regional sustainability tracking efforts consistent with sustainability program. Perform basic data quality checks and reporting summaries. Compile monthly sustainability dashboards.
  • Waste & Reduction Strategy Support (20–25%):
    Support waste diversion and reduction initiatives and regional diversion performance. Research donation, salvage, and circular economy opportunities. Support implementation of sustainability signage or huddle boards.
  • Embodied Carbon & ESG Support (15–20%):
    Assist with embodied carbon tracking and material research. Analysis of EPDs and material data. Assist with embodied carbon data collection and summaries.
  • Sustainability Communications & Education (20–25%):
    Support regional training and awareness initiatives and content creation efforts. Develop 1–2 project case studies. Draft newsletter or internal communication content. Assist with sustainability training materials or lunch and learns.
Professional Development Qualifications
  • Enrolled and actively pursuing college or university accredited degree program or enrolled in a Co‑op program, recommended majors include and not limited to Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or other related field of study, and at minimum 1 year of completed education, and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must be 18 years of age, to work at a construction project site
  • Desire to work in construction management and to learn about construction industry
  • Commitment to work standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills including student leadership, volunteerism, or other community involvement
  • Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills, in English language required
  • Ability to read and comprehend written information
  • Assume personal and professional accountability for own actions and activities
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and participate
  • Able to work independently, with direction and supervision, and in team environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
