Remote | Part-Time (20–30 Hours/Week) | Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
We are a residential Landscape Construction firm seeking a detail-driven, systems-oriented Senior Estimator who can independently perform quantity takeoffs and translate them into structured, client-ready proposals.
This is not a design-focused role.
This is not a coordination-only PM role.
This is a cost-control and margin-protection position for someone who builds estimates from first principles.
About the RoleBased on our broader Construction Project Management scope , we are strengthening our estimating process to ensure:
- Accurate material and labor quantity takeoffs
- Validation of subcontractor quotes against internal quantities
- Prevention of scope gaps
- Clear alignment between estimates and client proposals
- Strong margin protection
You will work closely with our internal team to ensure that every proposal reflects a validated, quantity-driven cost model.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed takeoffs from landscape and hardscape plans (SF, LF, CY, etc.)
- Apply appropriate waste factors and production rate assumptions
- Develop internal cost build-ups using Excel
- Compare and validate subcontractor bids against internal quantity models
- Identify scope gaps or inconsistencies before proposals are issued
- Convert detailed takeoff-based estimates into structured, client-facing proposals
- Ensure scope language accurately reflects the underlying quantities
- Clearly define inclusions, exclusions, and allowances
- Preserve margin integrity during proposal formatting
- Support integration of approved change orders into cost tracking
- Maintain organized quantity sheets and estimate documentation
- Assist with internal cost reconciliation processes
- Proven experience performing construction quantity takeoffs (landscape, civil, or hardscape preferred)
- Experience with takeoff software (Bluebeam, Planswift, On-Screen Takeoff, etc.)
- Experience drafting proposals from detailed cost models
- Strong written English and structured communication skills
- You rely primarily on subcontractor lump-sum pricing
- You are primarily a 3D designer or visualization specialist
- You prefer informal or loosely structured workflows
- You are not comfortable defending your quantity assumptions
- Remote position
