Prerequisites
  • High School Graduate or equivalent (G.E.D) preferred.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to be insured by VMC's carrier.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Security Officer, Law Enforcement and/or Military Service preferred. Excellent customer service skills considered.
  • Ability to comprehend and translate the Revised Code of Washington.
  • Basic keyboard skills (25 wpm) and experience using Windows applications preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • No convictions of any crime other than misdemeanor traffic violations.
  • Must successfully pass Work Steps pre‑hire screening for minimum physical requirements.
Qualifications
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to spell accurately and write/type legibly.
  • Able to multitask and carry out assignments independently, exercising good judgment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to work independently.
  • Able to handle telephone calls and personal interactions with tact, poise, courtesy and respect.
  • Neat and well‑groomed in appearance, following hospital personnel standards.
  • Demonstrates reliable attendance and job performance.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

In addition to the generic Service Partner job description:

  • Occasionally provide safe patient handling under VMC's Safe Patient Handling guidelines, including lifting patients and operating patient lifting equipment.
  • Lift from floor to overhead levels and carry items up to 70 pounds.
  • Stand or sit for extended periods; stoop, bend, reach, crouch, squat; full body range of motion required.
  • Enter data into the computer.
  • Walk extensive areas of campus, traverse stairwells, rooftops, uneven terrain, restrain and physically apprehend individuals as required.
  • Vision and hearing within normal range, including good depth perception and ability to distinguish colors.
  • Work a variety of hours, indoor/outdoor, possible exposure to communicable disease and varying weather conditions.
  • During inclement weather report to work to assist with patient and staff transportation, de‑icer on campus roads and walkways.
  • Cover other assigned duties within the department; provide coverage for ED Station, drive shuttle or other vehicles for Security/Disaster Duties, ride bicycle or walk parking structure.
  • Perform several tasks simultaneously and organize/analyze situations and schedules.

  • Provides reasonable security and safety for visitors, patients, employees and physicians at Valley Medical Center.
  • Oversees enforcement of administrative policies, prevents crime against property, and performs initial investigations as needed.
  • Locks and unlocks building as necessary for shift.
  • Patrols exterior and interior of building per assigned shift.
  • Monitors CCTV system and operates monitoring equipment.
  • Maintains awareness of lobby conditions and environment; communicates with environmental services and facilities for assistance.
  • Monitors ED lobby for safe and comfortable environment.
  • Maintains vehicles (gas, oil, fluid levels, clean when requested).
  • Provides escorts when needed.
  • Operates Command Center until relieved.
  • Enforces parking violations in parking lots and garage.
  • Provides fire education to all staff on all shifts.
  • Provides traffic control when requested.
  • Performs security duties in and around construction projects.
  • Assists patients with directions, answering questions and liaising with other departments.
