Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties is hiring a Chief People & Culture Officer to lead enterprise-wide people strategy for a high-growth, ~ $85M organization with ~145 employees operating at the intersection of real estate development, construction, retail, and mission-driven work. In 2025, Habitat helped 40 families become homeowners and delivered critical home repairs to 100+ families-strengthening stability and community across the region through a growing portfolio of development, build, and retail operations.
Reporting to the CEO, this role serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership-driving culture, talent, total rewards, organizational design, and leadership development while modeling Habitat s core values: lead with service, respect all people, build community, and deliver results. Opportunity
The Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) is a senior executive leader responsible for shaping an organizational culture rooted in trust, belonging, accountability, and wellbeing. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role serves as a strategic advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that people strategy strengthens mission delivery today while building capacity for the future.
The CPCO will design and lead a comprehensive People & Culture strategy that connects employees to impact, strengthens leadership capability, and builds systems that allow people—and communities—to thrive.
What You'll Lead- A people & culture strategy aligned with Habitat's mission, values, and long-term growth
- A high-trust, inclusive, and values-driven workplace where employees feel supported, challenged, and connected to purpose
- The full employee lifecycle, including talent strategy, onboarding, performance, engagement, development, and retention
- Leadership development, succession planning, and organizational design to support a growing, evolving organization

- Change management efforts that support organizational growth, agility, and cross-functional collaboration
- Employer branding and employee value proposition initiatives that position Habitat as an employer of choice
- A strong People & Culture team delivering HR and safety excellence across the organization
- Leads with integrity, empathy, and clarity
- Understands that trust and culture are strategic assets, not abstract ideals
- Brings depth in organizational design, talent strategy, and change leadership
- Is comfortable operating at both enterprise and human levels
- Is energized by mission-driven work and long-term community impact
- Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-CP, or SCP are valued
A bachelor s degree is preferred and at least 10 years of progressive HR experience and a minimum of three years management level is required. Nonprofit experience, experience working with a Board of Directors, and real estate development, construction and/or retail industry experience are strongly preferred.
Compensation & BenefitsThe salary range for this role is $195,683-$244,604
