Senior UNIX Engineer

Position Title: Senior UNIX Engineer

Location: US-DC-Washington

The Senior UNIX Engineer provides support and administration of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Office of Information Technology (OIT) AD in a Windows Server distributed environment.

• Perform production control activities such as the support of cyclical changes to operational workloads, data administration, data compression, data restores, reorganization of files, recovery of systems, production of reports, download/upload of information, setup and verification of files and programs.
• Perform log reviews and server configuration changes.
• Coordinate OS upgrades, patches, fixes, and testing with stakeholders.
• Analyze data and provide recommendations to address application high availability issues and requirements.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a similar Information Technology Field.
• A minimum of 10 years with Unix Engineering, specifically including:
  Analysis related to design, development, and integration of hardware and software to support large-scale Unix environments with virtualization, including Red Hat, CentOS, and SPARC Solaris.
• 10 years' experience testing large-scale UNIX and virtual environments.
• Experience performing a variety of engineering and operational-related assignments associated with Storage operations, backup operations, and virtualization software (VMware's vSphere and Microsoft Hyper‑V on a set of enterprise-level IT systems).
• 10 years' experience writing scripts with a scripting language, with knowledge of ANSIBLE.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops and ITIL processes.
• Experienced in AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud Services, and other Cloud environments.
• Secret Clearance.
