The Revenue Cycle Financial Counselor assists customers, staff, and providers with the resolution of issues as they pertain to account balances and payments. This role has strong interpersonal customer service communication skills and attention to detail.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe key duties and responsibilities of the Revenue Cycle Financial Counselor include, but are not limited to:
- Verification of coverage and out of pocket amounts for patient accounts
- Obtains necessary referrals, authorization and pre-certification as needed
- Provides estimates for services to patients, physician offices, and payers as requested
- Liaison between business office and patients, staff, and providers to resolve issues
- Point of contact for patients regarding payments and other related financial matters pertaining to services
- Updates patient accounts and collections relevant patient data
- Makes payment arrangements for outstanding balances
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum 3 years billing experience
- Experience in financial counseling
- Demonstrated patient relations experience
- Working experience navigating EHR’s to abstract documentation
Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical skills and enjoy problem solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated team player able to multi-task and prioritize
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficiency in computers especially experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Adobe
