Patient Care Assistant / MA – Phlebotomy

Location: VMC Main Campus, Renton, WA – 
Shift: Nights,
Type: Full‑time (0.9 FTE).
Salary Range: $26.29–41.93 /hr (DOE).

Provide routine nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR). Support patients across all age groups and manage phlebotomy duties in a medical center environment.

• Report all patient observations, significant findings, and equipment issues to RN/LPN or CAR.
• Monitor patient condition changes, including level of consciousness, mobility, breathing pattern, skin color, pain and wound status.
• Respond promptly to cardiac/pulmonary arrest, psychiatric emergencies, postpartum hemorrhage, and newborn emergencies as directed.
• Safely use and maintain patient‑care equipment.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures and chem strip tests according to established protocols.
• Maintain biannual phlebotomy certification and comply with laboratory standards.
• Demonstrate an understanding of developmental/behavioral characteristics of infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

• Licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in Washington State.
• Valid AHA BLS certification for health‑care providers.
• One (1) year of patient‑care experience preferred.
• MA – Phlebotomy certification required (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with a diverse population.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and manage emotional needs.
