Job Title:
Healthcare Data Analyst

Job DescriptionThe position will coordinate efforts among quality management support staff to produce data-based work product analyzed in accordance with bio-statistical principles. This Analyst will create presentations for hospital leadership and serve as an "interpreter" between Information Technology and clinical staff during problem‑solving sessions.
Qualifications- Associate degree in health care field required (Health Information Management, clinical field or healthcare informatics preferred);
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Minimum two years recent employment in an acute health care setting.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite® (
Excel/QI Macros, Access, Power Point ); advanced Excel skills (Analysis Tool Kit, statistical analysis software). - Knowledge of research methodology, bio-statistical analysis, data management and basic coding.
- Ability to design, implement and maintain data retrieval, analysis and reporting systems; skilled in graphic development and presentation.
- Strong written and oral communication; ability to deliver effective reports and presentations.
- Maintains confidentiality of data and information as required.
- Excellent planning, organization, multi‑tasking and concentration skills to meet reporting deadlines.
- Support organization‑wide quality management, patient safety and performance improvement program through data retrieval, analysis and reporting.
- Produce requested reports within established time frames.
- Develop and maintain competence in clinical decision support systems (e.g., Truven Care Discovery Transform, Quality Measures, Quality‑Net Exchange).>
- Identify and report variations in clinical care requiring immediate follow‑through.
- Utilize various software applications for data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Analyze, report and interpret data using performance improvement tools (graphs, run charts, control charts, statistical process control).
- Apply bio‑statistical analyses for physician peer review and reappointment profiling.
- Prepare PowerPoint slides for administrative and physician presentations to quality committees and licensing/accrediting bodies.
- Provide comparative data to identify best practices and keep committees aware of publicly reported data.
- Troubleshoot technical issues between Outcomes Management and liaisons for various software programs.
- Resolve data conflicts and maintain database integrity.
- Serve as a technical resource for others using the same software systems and databases.
- Provide guidance to physicians, leadership and staff in analysis and interpretation of internal and external data and reports.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Primary resource for HCDA and PSDA.
- Coordinate assignments to level‑load the HCDA’s work.
- Ensure all hospital‑related measures are submitted by deadlines for CMS, TJC and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor public reporting sites and inform quality leadership of any aberrations.
- Manage the OPPE reporting process to ensure compliance with standards.
