As the Project Environmental Manager, you will lead and oversee the environmental management practices on the Howard
A. Hanson Dam Additional Storage Project. This exciting position ensures compliance with legal and contractual environmental requirements and contributes to Flatiron Dragados’s dedication to corporate social responsibility. Bring your diverse ideas to build stronger, more resilient communities.
- Coordinating contractor compliance with federal, state, local, and installation project requirements.
- Developing and monitoring environmental procedures on construction sites.
- Developing and delivering environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels, including 40 CFR compliance.
- Ensuring compliance with Hazardous Waste Program requirements, implementing the Environmental Protection Plan (EPP), obtaining, maintaining, and closing out environmental permits, and ensuring compliance with stormwater, equipment decontamination, and hazardous materials requirements.
- Identifying, documenting, and resolving environmental risks during daily site inspections.
- Coordinating remediation of regulated substances such as lead, asbestos, and PCBs.
- Ensuring compliance with water quality standards and applicable federal acts (Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act).
- Maintaining the Environmental Records binder and required documentation.
- Updating environmental plans.
- Documenting findings, evaluations, and inspections using company‑approved procedures and software.
- Advising project management on interpretation and implementation of environmental regulations and specifications.
- Reporting environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
- Advising construction teams on environmental hazards and procedures to minimize adverse effects.
- Forecasting and communicating environmental costs at the project level.
- Identifying opportunities to implement sustainable practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or an engineering field.
- At least 5 years of environmental regulatory and compliance experience in the construction industry.
- Expert knowledge of local and federal regulations, including MBTA, ESA, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, 40 CFR, Clean Water Act (Washington State – SMMWW, CSWGP, SWPPP, TESC), and work within and discharge to jurisdictional surface waters.
- Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative.
