The work of a Ramp/Warehouse Agent includes the following: loading and unloading of cargo (mail, express, freight, and company material) on and off aircraft; transporting cargo between terminals and aircraft; ramp transfers of cargo where required; receiving, delivering, and physical handling of freight and company material; export at the designated express docks, mail and the completion of forms and messages related to and necessary for the performance of the designated locations of the functions described.
The role also covers cleaning and servicing cabin interiors, including cockpit and lavatories; draining lavatories; handling, assembling, removing and installing passenger service cabin furnishings and supplies; transporting furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft. May include assisting in loading, unloading and racking both filled and empty drums. Duties may include windshields cleaning, pushout/tow operations, and related ground handling functions; connecting/removing ground power and ground start units;
exterior aircraft cleaning with specialized fluids. May be assigned to routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities with or without powered equipment, and to assist in monitoring security of facility. May be assigned routine automotive repair and servicing and cleaning of powered and unpowered equipment. Comply with WFS site security procedures and report security breaches or non-compliance as appropriate.
- Must be able to perform the following functions in variable weather conditions and environmental conditions (jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise).
- Load and unload aircraft of cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. in and out of aircraft; push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers with/to aircraft.
- Drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in areas with aircraft, moving and stationary vehicles and equipment; position vehicles up to aircraft requiring depth perception and color discrimination (red, green, yellow).
- Engage in push-out of aircraft driving an 80,000 lb. vehicle or assist by providing a guide function to the driver during push-back.
- Transport cargo to and from aircraft driving a 3,000 lb. vehicle through congested areas, using depth perception to negotiate around carts.
- Read off-load sheets to determine destination of cargo.
- During aircraft push-out and/or towing, perform proper ground-to-cockpit communication.
- Pull water hose from stationary cabinet and connect to aircraft.
- Lift, connect, and remove overhead 40 lb. KVA electric cable to/from aircraft.
- De-ice aircraft at heights of up to 20–80 ft., lifting and holding nose, spraying wings and fuselage with glycol.
- HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
