Position OverviewThe Maintenance Lead is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment to support the site’s business goals. The role involves scheduling maintenance, working with vendors, addressing safety and security issues, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting production operations.
Essential Functions- Schedule and prioritize building and production equipment maintenance tasks.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to complete scheduled work orders.
- Collaborate with management, leadership, building landlords, and contractors to address building security, fire, safety, and other time‑sensitive issues efficiently.
- Perform unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance of production equipment using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, perform tests, and adjust equipment.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Use hand and power tools, electrical meters, and material‑handling equipment.
- Detect faulty operations early, plan repairs, and report unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Maintain scheduled service for material‑handling trucks and flooded lead‑acid batteries.
- Maintain spare‑parts inventory logs for all production equipment and batteries for EPA reporting.
- Make budget‑ and production‑impact‑aware decisions for repairs and projects related to maintenance and facilities.
- Perform general facilities maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, cleaning, and concrete repair.
- Communicate transparently during repairs and maintain a professional attitude in all interactions.
- Maintain productivity standards and a clean, safe, orderly work environment.
- Be willing to work overtime and weekends as workload dictates; support production to fulfill customer orders when required.
- Follow all safety procedures, regulations, and report infractions.
- Assist the Safety Supervisor with maintenance‑related safety compliance and implementation of safety standards.
- Attend safety meetings and conduct monthly safety training as required.
- Work effectively in a team environment and independently, maintaining reliability, attendance, and punctuality.
- Maintain confidentiality and security in all communications.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, including conveyors, sorters, and other mechanized equipment, preferably in a warehouse/distribution facility.
- Knowledge of conveyor systems and controls.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Windows.
- Experience with automation conveyors, PLC programming (Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000), Compass CORS conveyor control software, Allen Bradley Power Flex VFD controllers, and SICK barcode scanners is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, general plumbing and carpentry knowledge.
- Self‑motivated, independent, and proactive in achieving results.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to translate non‑technical needs into workable solutions.
- Ability to develop supportive relationships with peers, leaders, vendors, and corporate executives.
- Strong problem‑solving, time‑management, and prioritization skills.
This is a full‑time position (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week). Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TravelMaintenance and repair travel is primarily local during the business day. Annual training travel requires one trip per year.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision ReceivedReports directly to the on‑site Maintenance Supervisor.
