XL Industrial Services, Inc is seeking experienced Rig Welders for a piping project based in Reno, Nevada. This temporary assignment, beginning 13 June, offers competitive hourly rates, daily per diem, and overtime opportunities. We are looking for highly skilled professionals capable of performing structural and pipe welds under rigorous standards. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, adherence to safety, and the ability to meet project deadlines.

Primary Function:

The Rig Welder will be responsible for executing high-quality welds on carbon steel piping using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) processes. The role involves reading technical drawings, preparing joints, and performing welds that meet strict inspection criteria. Welders must be proficient with various rod techniques and capable of working in a fast-paced, industrial job site environment.

Tools and Equipment Used:
  • Welding rig and related truck-mounted equipment
  • SMAW (Stick Welding) machines
  • Welding rods (6010 downhill, 7018 uphill)
  • Grinder, wire brush, and beveling tools
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Standard measuring and inspection tools
  • 2" XXH Carbon Steel Coupons
  • Pipe fittings and weld joints
  • Blueprints and welding procedure specifications (WPS)
  • Safety and compliance documentation
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform precise welding on 2" XXH carbon steel using specified rod sequences
  • Pass (2) weld tests prior to project start (6010 downhill; 6010 downhill + 7018 uphill)
  • Adhere strictly to safety standards and participate in online safety training
  • Work 10-hour day shifts, Monday through Saturday (60 hours per week)
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area
  • Provide own welding truck and equipment
  • Comply with drug screening and mobilisation protocols
  • Follow project blueprints and instructions provided by foremen or supervisors
  • Report to job site punctually and reliably throughout the project duration
  • $40.00 / hour
  • $.60 per mile for mobilisation and demobilisation
  • Paid online safety training (included on first paycheck)
  • Consistent 60-hour workweeks for 2 months
