Overview

The Water Damage Specialist at the intermediate level has four objectives:

  • Act as head of the water damage team that deals with residential and small commercial losses.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and technical competence in IICRC's standard work practices on water and mold damage.
  • Show competence in the عدuse, care and maintenance of water extraction equipment, portable drying equipment and moisture detection instruments.
  • ’impression et thereby determine the extent, dimension and distribution of moisture and document water losses.

Intermediaries provide assistance to basic level technicians and support advanced technicians on complex or large‑scale projects. Intermediaries in CAT service can simultaneously manage multiple losses for water, including the organization and management of temporary workers.

To qualify, you must have 12 months of previous experience in the Basic Level of Water Damage at BELFOR or equivalent, and have directly participated in at least 25 water damage projects.

Responsibilities
  • Receive instructions from the supervisor.
  • Direct the team on proper PPE usage.
  • Review daily project requirements, document progress and report challenges to managers.
  • Provide field documentation, photographic records, charts and sketches for TPA projects.
  • Perform daily inspections of vehicle safety, maintain cleanliness and conditions.
  • Pay attention to detail.
  • Comply with BELFOR standards to safeguard other people's property.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Work within time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Travel, work night shifts, weekends as requested.
  • Report time worked and equipment锅 consumables used accurately and timely.
  • Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and required security training courses.
Requirements
  • Supervise and self‑perform Water Damage Basic tasks.
  • Gather photos for job files.
  • Maintain equipment for debris removal, containment/drying chambers, wall cavity drying, pump systems, carpet seam cutting and baseboard removal.
  • Identify Class 4 material, measure moisture and deploy effective drying techniques.
  • Evaluate structural integrity of affected materials and determine cost trade‑offs.
  • Create moisture maps using provided tools.
  • Supervise small crews on above tasks.

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S500 Water Damage Standard.
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S520 Mold Remediation Standard.
  • Current IICRC WRT designation.
  • Familiar새ть with BELFOR Water Damage Book.
  • Proper use of meters and IR camera; understand affected vs unaffected materials.
  • Ability to draw sketches, read floor plans, complete moisture content logs, psychrometric logs and determine drying goals.
  • Understanding of air mover calculations, LGR dehumidification charts, electrical specifications and circuits.
  • Proficiency in Hydro Sensor, Thermal Hygrometer, Nav Pro Moisture Meter or equivalent, and data recording.
  • Experience with truck‑mount extraction systems, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supervising small crews (up to 10) on residential/commercial/industrial losses.
  • Eligibility to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's policy.
  • Sense of urgency, professional demeanor, positive attitude, strong work ethic.
  • English language literacy and fluency.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent lifting >50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs+, assisted up to 50% of the time.
  • Access & mobility in tight spaces.
  • Sustained standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling.
  • Use of mobile devices for data & time collection.
