Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve and promote a safe environment for hotel guests and team members through keen observation.
- Stand at stationary or mobile posts inside or outside the hotel as directed by the supervisor, Director of Security, or their representative.
- Respond to suspicious, unusual, or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response by following established protocols.
- Respond in a calm demeanor for any emergency that may arise, e.g., bomb threats, medicals, deaths, domestic disturbance.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment and firearm.
- Use rapid and sound judgment in responding to unusual or emergency situations using an appropriate escalation level of force.
- Work in an environment that requires carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, using protective gear, and maintaining awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
- Meet and continue to meet required training standards related to handgun qualification.
- Patrol the property continually to assess and observe potential threats or suspicious activity.
- Handle oneself calmly, professionally, and courteously to guests, co‑workers, team members, and individuals on the property at all times.
- Address any problem and/or incident on the property and communicate with the supervisor during the tour of duty.
- Be observant in all areas inside or outside of the hotel for safety concerns or suspicious circumstances.
- Use good judgment and a calm demeanor when approaching or responding to a volatile or armed situation.
- Take control and instruct fellow co‑workers, team members, and guests as to the best course of action during an emergency.
- Complete investigations and subsequent reports by asking pertinent questions (who, what, where, why, how) to gather sufficient details; use a computer report writing system and follow through on any given report.
- Make constant contact with guests and team members to provide optimal service, including contacting various departments for pertinent information.
- Liaise with outside law enforcement and maintain professional communication with agencies such as Police Officials, Fire Department, FBI, Secret Service, and Governmental Officials.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Minimum of 21 years of age or older.
- Submit to and pass a company‑paid drug screen test and background check.
- Undergo all required training and maintain a high level of expertise in all fields.
- Candidates must either:
- hold and maintain a CCW issued by a political subdivision of the State of Nevada;
- or be able to obtain a CCW issued by a political subdivision of the State of Nevada within 130 days from the date of offer (or the employer has the option to separate employment);
- be presently employed as an active duty Law Enforcement officer in the State of Nevada;
- be a retired law enforcement officer who holds a current Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA / HR218) card;
- be an honorably discharged veteran with Combat Arms Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) or SOF experience.
- Complete a psychological evaluation, paid for by GSR, and accompanying interview; pass with a satisfactory score (results forwarded to GSR Human Resources as pass/fail).
- Participate in and pass company‑paid pre‑employment range and shooting qualifications.
- Submit to and pass a company‑paid drug screen test.
- Submit to a company‑paid background check.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Alcohol Awareness Card.
- Obtain Nevada Armed Gaming Control Board Registration.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test consisting of:
- 100‑yard dash – 30 second time limit;
- 150‑lb sandbag/dummy drag – 1 minute time limit;
- 15 push‑ups – 1 minute time limit.
- Obtain and maintain appropriate licensing with the Nevada Gaming Work Board, Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM), and Nevada Driver License throughout employment.
- Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
- Hold a current Nevada CCW or LEOSA card (candidate has 130 days from the date of offer to obtain CCW or employer may separate employment).
