Located on a 27-acre campus, it includes a training facility, dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and accommodations for Veterans staying on campus to train with their Liberty Service Dogs™.
PositionSummary
The Security Officer position is a full-time (40 hours/week) role responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure environment across the 27-acre Liberty Dogs Campus. Working as part of a dedicated security team, the officer supports 24/7 coverage for all staff, Veterans, volunteers, guests, and dogs on-site.
This role requires a dependable, team-oriented individual who can meet the physical and mental demands of campus patrol, emergency response, access control, and incident reporting. Candidates must be committed to safety, professionalism, and the unique mission of supporting Veterans through our work with service dogs.
The successful candidate will be more than a security professional; they will be a guardian of Liberty Dogs’ mission and values. They will combine technical expertise with emotional intelligence, ensuring the campus is not only safe but also welcoming and inspiring. They will never compromise on safety, but will also embody empathy and professionalism, ensuring that every interaction reflects Liberty Dogs’ commitment to Veterans, their families, and the community.
They will uphold a culture of safety, respect, and customer service. They will serve as ambassadors for the Liberty Dogs brand, representing professionalism, integrity, and service at all times.
- Conduct scheduled and randomized patrols inside and outside the facility to deter threats and establish security presence. Ensure all doors and windows are secured and alarms are set.
- Monitor and authorize vehicle and personnel entry; enforce access control policies.
- Manage trespassing incidents following company protocols and law enforcement coordination.
- Monitor surveillance cameras to identify disruptions and/or unwanted visitors. Respond to alarms and take appropriate action.
- Detain individuals involved in security incidents following legal and company protocols until law enforcement arrives.
- Protect the company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues.
- Comply with the confidentiality policy regarding releasing or disclosing organizational information that might be used in judicial and administrative proceedings.
- Submit daily activity reports and incident reports for review by the Security Director.
- Present a positive and professional image of Liberty Dogs to the public.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned, within the scope of security operations and company policies.
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a security officer, guard, or related field preferably within a hospitality, security or nonprofit campus environment. Security certifications (e.g., Guard card, CPR, first aid) are a plus.
- Knowledge of security and safety regulations, including legal guidelines for area security and fire inspection procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
- Goal-oriented, self-starter with the ability to take initiative and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with security-related databases, surveillance systems, and internet research is preferred but not required.
- In accordance with safety-sensitive position standards, candidates must successfully pass a background check, possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and complete a post offer drug screening. Additionally, candidates must be able to operate company vehicles as part of their job responsibilities.
