Job Summary
This part-time position covers weekends, Saturday - Sunday from 6:00am to 6:00pm. This position is benefits eligible. We are seeking a Security Officer for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, NV.
Responsibilities include protecting personnel and property against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other hazards; inspecting credentials and facilities; reporting irregularities, alarm activations, and tampering; developing, implementing and administering programs to protect personnel and property; ensuring compliance with government and organization security policies; safeguarding intellectual property; and conducting investigations to document noncompliance and possible breaches in law.
The following are responsibilities related to the Security Officer
:
- Greet, screen, record and admit visitors and employees in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor security and environmental systems and investigate and report incidents.
- Report all unauthorized persons to proper authorities and initiate action to protect employees, animals, products, and the physical site. Do not place yourself in harm's way.
- Ensure physical safety and security of the facility by enforcing company policies; conduct patrols and monitor security measures and critical building systems.
- Physically walk the facility grounds to complete visual inspections on regularly scheduled tours.
- Document security department activity and generate incident reports as necessary.
- Monitor facility equipment during tours; report equipment failure and reset alarms as instructed; assist in minor repairs as directed; provide secondary communications during business hours and primary communications during non-business hours.
- Contact emergency personnel as required in accordance with procedures and assist in directing appropriate emergency response efforts when required.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Weekend coverage with potential availability to provide coverage for others during the week, including vacations and sick leaves.
The following are minimum qualifications related to the Security Officer position:
- Education: High school diploma, GED or the equivalent; associate degree preferred.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience with at least six to twelve months of related security experience and/or training.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute.
- Certification/Licensure: Valid Driver's license

The pay for this position starts at $19/hr
. Salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
