Licensed Veterinary Technician - Surgery

Overview

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Reno is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department!

Pay Scale (LVT Level I): $22.25 - $32.00/Hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Career Trax leveling system. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

• Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Can follow detailed orders and build trust with the clinician quickly.
• Skilled in intubation, extubation, and monitoring anesthetic procedures.
• Understands the importance of sterility in all procedures performed and has prior knowledge and experience with sterilization processes.
• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize the ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exams; accurately counts heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts the doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
