Full Time - Eligible for Benefits## Position Purpose As a Nurse Practitioner Ped Endocrinology, employee shall provide clinical services to patients who are appropriate for the scope of a pediatric endocrinology nurse practitioner including but not limited to growth and developmental monitoring, general medicine, and immunizations. Nurse Practitioner shall provide regular clinic coverage, inpatient and emergency consultation as needed. Nurse Practitioner can expect to have some involvement with telemedicine and are encouraged to be supportive of research.##
Nature and Scope Nurse practitioners are primary health care providers. In the pediatric setting, they will provide medical care to children 0-19 years of age and assist their families in managing growth, development, immunizations, acute and chronic illnesses.
Nurse practitioners must provide exceptional care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based upon history and physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served. In addition, Nurse Practitioner will perform the following acts in addition to the ordinary functions of a registered nurse if he/she is properly prepared and the acts currently within the standard of medical practice for the Nurse Practitioner’s specialty and appear in their protocols:
1. Systematically access the health status of persons and families by:a. Taking, recording, and interpreting medical histories and performing physical examinationsb. Performing or initiating selected diagnostic procedures.
2. Based on information obtained in the assessment of a person’s health, manage the care of selected persons and families common, acute, recurrent or long-term health problem. Management may include:a. Initiation of a program of treatment for the patient. Prescribe medications consistent with Nevada prescribing laws and DEA privileges.b. Evaluation of responses to health problems and programs of treatmentc. Informing a person or family of the status of the patient’s health and alternatives for cared.
Evaluation of compliance with a program of treatment agreed upon by the person or family and the nurse practitionere. Modification of programs of treatment based on the response of the person or family to treatmentf. Referral to appropriate providers of health careg. Commencement of care is required to stabilize a patient’s condition in an emergency until appropriate transfer of care can be coordinated.
3. Any other act if:a. The nurse practitioner is certified to perform that act by an organization recognized by the Nevada Board of Nursingb. The performance of the act was taught in a program of education attended by the nurse practitionerc. The performance of the act was taught in a comprehensive program of instruction successfully completed by the nurse practitioner, which included clinical experience.d. The act is within the scope of practice of a nurse practitioner.
