This Registered Nurse PACU opportunity is part time at 20 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. The role functions in a PACU environment, providing direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations. It addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment, assists with maintenance of PHA and PACU equipment and inventory, participates in performance improvement activities, and is responsible for monitoring patients’ physiological status in the immediate postoperative environment.

The RN communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist immediately and as needed about patient condition, receives direction for patient management, and intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis. The RN is proficient in pain management, guidelines and medication dosing, and maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates supportive behaviours necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR
  • Perform head‑to‑toe pre‑procedure assessment on all patients and reassess post procedure as needed
  • Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care as indicated and evaluates for effectiveness.
  • Adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Educates the patient and family regarding pain management

Qualifications
