OverviewER Registered Nurse opportunity at North Valleys, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, is per diem with a flexible schedule. The ER treats a variety of emergency medical needs including trauma, lacerations, acute pain and other life-threatening but emergent conditions. The facility operates 24/7 and offers modern imaging services (ultrasound, CT, X-ray) and outpatient lab draws.
Northern Nevada Health System (NNHS) is a regional multi-facility system with two acute care hospitals (Northern Nevada Medical Center and Sierra Medical Center), Northwest Specialty Hospital, and freestanding emergency departments. Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care within the Emergency Department; coordinate care planning with other disciplines.
- Deliver care that meets psychosocial, physical, and general needs of patients; set priorities based on patient needs and patient flow.
- Communicate with ED physicians regarding changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
- Perform direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as required, and adjust nursing care plans to ensure optimal patient care.
- Conduct head-to-toe assessments on diverse patient populations (pediatric, adolescent, geriatric).
- Utilize triage processes to ensure timely and appropriate care and accurately assign triage categories.
- Monitor hemodynamic status and interpret results; assess and reassess pain; educate patients and families on pain management.

QualificationsCurrent NV RN License
Two to three years of emergency department experience preferred
Two to three years of critical care experience preferred
Current BLS Certification
Current ACLS Certification (within 6 months of hire)
Current PALS Certification (within 6 months of hire)
