General Labor Job Description

This position is responsible for serving customers, handling and preparing materials for processing, general maintenance, clean-up, and stocking.

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with steel orders, including pulling, processing, and loading steel in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
• Band and package products for shipment in accordance with branch procedure.
• Move products from storage area to processing area safely and efficiently.
• Plan the best use of time and materials and set up appropriate machines for efficient and accurate operation.
• Complete applicable paperwork for steel orders correctly.
• Operate a variety of equipment safely and efficiently, which may include shear, press brake, saws, rebar bender, iron worker, drill press, punches, overhead crane, forklift, hydraulic press, burner, and various hand tools.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment as necessary, when qualified.
• Comply with OSHA and branch safety standards, as well as all other regulatory requirements.
• Clean and maintain work area, which may include shoveling snow and sweeping floors.
• Participate in safety meetings, assist in training new employees, and support other departments as necessary.
• Perform inventory and machine checks.
• Demonstrate commitment to being present and working all assigned hours.
• Cooperate with employees, customers, suppliers, and others with honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Accept responsibility for own decisions and actions.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and a maximum of 100 pounds occasionally, push and pull up to 80 pounds, and perform physical activities such as gripping, squatting, bending, climbing, standing, walking, reaching, transferring, stacking, and loading of steel products.
• Strong customer service skills.
• High degree of attention and care to prevent injury.
• Ability to perform math calculations.
• Desire to learn practices and methods used for machine operation and in a steel warehouse.
• Good work ethic with high honesty and integrity.

• General knowledge of steel products is a plus.
• Experience with hand tools, forklifts, and power tools.
• Familiarity with packaging, general production, packing, unloading, and mechanical work.

The position is based in a loud warehouse environment. Employees should be prepared to work in varying weather conditions with moderate levels of noise.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reno, NV.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Reno, NV.
