Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Floor/carpet Shampoo;
Shampoo all carpets (excluding ball rooms & meeting rooms) using various types of shampoo machines. Spot clean carpets & remove gum using appropriate chemicals & machinery. Strip, wax & buff a variety of interior & exterior surfaces using specialized equipment. Spot clean upholstery & clean public area furnishings. Move furniture & equipment as necessary to complete assigned tasks. - Window Cleaning;
Clean glass, mirrors, frames, & tracks in public areas. - Special projects;
High cleaning, Escalator cleaning, Light bulb replacement, Remove snow & spread ice melt or sand on steps & sidewalks, Respond to bio-hazard cleanup & disinfect area as needed. - Perform all Utility Porter functions as required such as:
Clean restrooms or public spaces, trash pickup & clean offices if needed. - Report all maintenance defects.
- Comply with Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Hotel facilities.
- Speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and fellow employees.
- Use cleaning equipment, i.e. extractors, buffers, wet vacs, escalator cleaner & ride on or walk behind floor cleaners.
- Comprehend product labeling instructions (written in the English language) in order to safely use products and processes.
- Remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
- Comprehend and follow supervisor’s instructions.
- Maintain attendance in conformance with Hotel standards.
- Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
- Work with interruptions.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
- Attend and participate in meetings in order to be informed of new rules, regulations and procedures.
- Additional responsibilities may be required based on hotel needs.
Grasp, bend, and lift (up to 4 ft.) items weighing up to 20 lbs and carry, or otherwise move supplies, weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis & moving furniture items up to 100 lbs. Walk/stand, bend (at neck & waist), twist (at the waist), stoop, climb, kneel, and/or reach (above and below shoulder level) as needed, or for duration of shift, walking 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift.
Simple/power grasping and repetitive use of hands are needed to accomplish essential functions.
The work is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment, noise level usually loud.
