Resources (Power / Industrial / Waste) Business Group Technology Director
HDR is inviting applicants for the Resources (Power / Industrial / Waste) Business Group Technology Director position. This role is part of HDR’s Resources Business Group (RBG), which includes the Power, Industrial and Waste sectors. The successful candidate will drive the strategic vision and tactical implementation of technology solutions within RBG, collaborating closely with RBG leadership, Corporate Technology teams and other HDR stakeholders to identify, evaluate and implement technology initiatives.
The focus will be on optimizing project execution and driving technology innovation through data management, optimization, automation and visualization.
As the RBG Technology Director, you will work internally within the RBG Professional Services Organization and report to the RBG Professional Services Director. You will shape the next 3‑5 year strategic plan, position HDR as a marketplace differentiator, develop consistent delivery approaches, connect people with technology talent and facilitate technology integration across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities- Facilitate development of an RBG technology vision and roadmap that identifies, develops, and monitors strategies for technology investments.
- Advance and implement technology related to digital delivery, data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
- Collaborate and coordinate with external technology vendors, internal business classes and corporate technology programs to align and advance RBG program initiatives around data analytics and AI.
- Develop and implement standardized approaches and best practices for increased efficiency of technology work and quality of delivery.
- Identify programmatic hardware and software needs (e.g., high‑powered computing) and work with corporate technology to facilitate solutions.
- Develop technology guidelines, policies and RBG software validation and maintenance procedures.
- Support practice and professional discipline groups to foster technology talent collaboration and skills development.
- Participate on project teams for larger programs and pursuits.
- Experience evaluating technology, software development and deployment.
- Demonstrated understanding of a broad range of technologies and their application within power, waste, and/or industrial sectors.
- Experience in numerical modeling, digital production, data sciences and artificial intelligence.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 5 executing projects or leading project teams in the Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction industries.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, information science, systems administration or a similar field.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute applied technology strategies, implementation plans and foster change within an organization.
- Experience in data architecture, data management and knowledge of industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams to advance projects and initiatives.
- Experience in developing and managing diverse teams.
- Cooperative relationship with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers.
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement and HDR values.
- Active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture is a must.
