Responsibilities
- Manage patient flow: check schedules, accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms, assist with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparing for exam.
- Collect patient history and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
- Assist physicians and nurses with procedures and charting.
- Relay instructions to patients and families.
- Answer calls and provide pertinent information.
- Execute clerical duties: send/receive patient medical records, obtain lab/x‑ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and complete requisitions.
- Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage and patient demographics, and manage charts to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in end‑of‑day cash balancing and charge reconciliation processes as per clinic protocol.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion or at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist (preferred).
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience with patient check‑in and check‑out processes according to clinic protocol.
- Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems such as Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of end‑of‑day cash balancing and charge reconciliation.
