Renown Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to assist providers in front and back office procedures. The role serves as a liaison between providers and patients, ensuring patient concerns are addressed. The position may float to various sites within the health system.
Position PurposeThe Medical Assistant is accountable for assisting providers in front and back office procedures. This includes patient rooming, taking vital signs, maintaining examination room stock, documenting patient communications, preparing lab specimens, completing referral forms, scheduling tests, and administering treatments as ordered.
Nature and ScopeKey responsibilities include:
- Escort patients from the waiting room to the examination room promptly.
- Take vital signs as per guidelines.
- Maintain examination rooms’ stock and complete lab specimen processing.
- Document all patient communications and prepare referral forms.
- Schedule patients for tests and manage phone calls.
- Administer treatments and medications per provider order, following established policies.
- Perform procedures such as adding casts, splints and braces for departments 530244, 515284, and 515322.
- Assist physicians with application of casts/splints in OR, inpatient units and emergency room.
- Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms and maintain tools and equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and patients for casts, braces, and mobilization aids.
- Execute documentation and patient education related to cast care.
- Apply appropriate casts/splints per physician direction.
- Fit casts, splints, and braces for maximum comfort.
- Trim, split, and remove casts as required.
- Adjust braces to physician specification.
- Perform documentation and patient education related to cast, splints or braces.
- Provide cast care and brace instructions.
- Fit and instruct on crutches and other mobilization aids.
- Prepare, stock and clean exam rooms as per MA requirements.
- Stock exam rooms, inventory specialty items, and reorder supplies.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- Setup fluoroscopy machine for provider use.
- Contact vendors about brace orders.
- Coordinate with patients to assist in completing workups.
- Complete forms prior to physician review.
- Working‑level knowledge of the English language.
- Multi‑physician office practice experience preferred.
- Preferred certifications: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA, EMT 1 or completion of an externship (with leadership approval).
- Current State of Nevada license for Office Laboratory Assistant or Certified Laboratory Assistant; must be submitted within 90 days of employment (exceptions for certain departments noted).
- Current AHA BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Ability to obtain one of the following certifications within 90 days:
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), State of Nevada EMT certification. - Computer/typing skills sufficient to complete online learning requirements and policy access.
