Position Purpose

The Perinatal Sonographer participates in patient care under the supervision of a Physician and collaborates with the healthcare team by performing and reporting sonographic examinations. Responsible for daily laboratory operations, equipment performance, and quality assessment, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Nature and Scope

• Performs sonographic examinations as ordered, analyzing data and following departmental guidelines.
• Uses independent judgment to produce high-quality diagnostic information, reports equipment issues, and generates reports on the PACS system.
• Provides summary findings to physicians, prepares preliminary reports, and contacts referring physicians as needed.
• Organizes daily work, maintains equipment sterilization, and ensures patient safety and comfort.
• Addresses patient care issues, responds to emergencies, and maintains HIPAA compliance.
• Acts as a communication liaison within Women's Health, promoting effective communication.

Minimum Qualifications Requirement Description Education Graduation  from an accredited bachelor's program in diagnostic medical sonography or equivalent.

Experience Minimum two years OB experience or recent internship in obstetrics or MFM clinic.

License

ARDMS certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology; RVT preferred.

Certifications

CPR upon hire, AHA BLS within 60 days, and specialized certifications such as Nuchal translucency, Nasal Bone, and CLEAR within 6 months; fetal echocardiography preferred.

Computer Skills Ability to complete online learning, access forms, and navigate systems within 90 days.
