- Patrol assigned area on foot, vehicle or other transport; conduct checks for burglary and disturbances.
- Make arrests, escort prisoners, register and book arrest records.
- Prepare detailed investigation reports, respond to complaints, control crowds and cooperate with other law‑enforcement agencies.
- Enforce traffic/parking regulations, investigate accidents, provide first aid.
- Maintain community relations, assist in training of new recruits.
- Assist public with lost children/pets, motorist assistance, traffic hazard recommendations.
- Keep records, assist superiors, may act on their behalf.
- Attend training, may be called for emergency duties or to assist other emergency personnel.
- Investigate personal violence, theft, juvenile, missing persons, runaways, conduct interviews.
- Collect evidence, conduct crime‑scene work, surveillance, testify in court.
- Participate in undercover investigations (narcotics, gambling, vice, etc.).
- Determine juvenile case resolution, cooperate with social agencies and schools.
- Deliver speeches, lectures, demonstrations; maintain logs and act as training officer.
- Complete performance evaluations of recruit officers; perform related duties.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of patrol experience (may include probationary time) OR successful completion of the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy (NNLEA).
- Valid Nevada Class C driver’s license at time of application and hire.
- NV POST Category 1 Certificate, or out‑of‑state POST Category 1 with Nevada reciprocity. Certificate must be in good standing.
- 21 years of age or older; U.S. citizen.
- Pass Nevada POST Physical Fitness Test per NAC 289.
- Non‑NV POST holders must pass online Reciprocity course and State Certification exam per NAC 289.
- Not resigned in lieu of termination or terminated for substantiated misconduct involving dishonesty.
