Senior Pavement Engineer; applied research focus

Position: Senior Pavement Engineer (applied research focus)
NCE is actively recruiting a Senior Pavement Engineer to join out Pavements and Materials Group. If you enjoy a challenging career in applied pavement research and engineering, this opportunity may be for you!

Examples of research interests include design, performance, sustainability, and resiliency, of asphalt and/or concrete pavements.

You should have experience with applied pavement research, project management, writing and winning research proposals, and implementing research results. You will work with NCE staff to win new research projects and bring together the resources assuring the high-quality outcomes NCE delivers. Participation on national committees (e.g., TRB, ASTM, ACPA, AAPT) is highly encouraged.

Your role will include increasing NCE's visibility on the State and National level in your area(s) of technical expertise, which will include business development and client interaction (including travel). Relocation to an NCE office location is preferred but not required.

Qualifications (Must Have):

• Ph.D. with 8+ years of experience (or M.S. with 12+ years of experience) in a pavement-related field.
• Experience in a lead role on applied research projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare proposals and assist with winning projects.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong client skills.

Qualifications (Nice to Have):

• Experience as a PI or Co-PI leading projects >$150,000
• Established network of industry colleagues.
• Professional Engineer registration (any state), or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
• Ability to support NCE's pavement engineering assignments by providing technical input.
• Ability to mentor and supervise engineering support staff.

Working Conditions: Mainly office setting, travel as required, field visits as needed.

Salary Range is $90,000 - $120,000+ annually, DOE.
