Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Coordinator

Commercial Construction | VDC / BIM

Position Overview

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Coordinator to support design-build and negotiated projects across public, federal, and private sectors. This role provides VDC services and BIM coordination for project teams within both Operations and Special Projects divisions, supporting project planning, constructability, and execution through advanced modeling and technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Robotic Total Station (RTS) digital files using XYZ coordinates for field layout; provide guidance and support to project teams utilizing Hilti and Trimble systems
  • Create 3D models using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for presentations, interviews, and project coordination
  • Develop 4D models integrated with project schedules using tools such as Synchro or Fuzor
  • Lead BIM coordination meetings with subcontractors; track clashes and facilitate resolution
  • Convert 2D drawings into accurate and constructible 3D models
  • Create 3D logistics plans and graphic animations to support preconstruction planning and site phasing
  • Produce detailed 3D models for plan review, drawing quality assurance, field production, and workflow planning
  • Coordinate with field personnel to address constructability issues and resolve clashes using BIM data
  • Maintain and expand technical expertise in advanced graphics and 3D software through continued use and training
  • Update and maintain BIM standards, templates, and company best practices
  • Provide quality control for company BIM and modeling standards
  • Establish and manage budgets related to BIM implementation
  • Report on current and projected BIM implementation status and capabilities
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors and software providers to support BIM technology needs
  • Travel to project sites outside the local market as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Graphics, or Construction Management, plus four (4) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience on large-scale commercial construction projects
  • Proficiency with VDC/BIM software including Autodesk AEC Collection, Revizto, Fuzor/Synchro, Sketch Up, and Trimble Field Suite
  • Demonstrated experience creating 3D and 4D models using VDC software
  • FAA Part 107 license or ability to obtain one
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and accountability
  • Commitment to continued education in BIM; willingness to attend seminars and conferences as a company representative
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to uphold company values and standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships
