Position Overview
Manages and directs the school library, providing a learning environment for all students, creating a collection that meets the needs of students and faculty and supports the curriculum, and providing instruction to support and integrate Nevada's Information Literacy Standards within the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities- Incorporate Information Literacy skills in library activities and collaborate with teachers to plan learning activities, locate resources, and identify student needs.
- Provide instruction on research techniques, including technology use, to students and faculty.
- Guide students and faculty in using the online library catalog and online resources, including informational databases.
- Encourage evaluation of Internet resources for relevance and accuracy.
- Maintain a respectful learning environment; assist teachers and students in locating materials in print and electronic formats; provide individual help when necessary.
- Plan research units and maintain high expectations for learning; support independent learning and develop critical thinking.
- Operate library automation system, catalog new materials, select appropriate materials for the collection, conduct reviews, and weed outdated materials.
- Manage and allocate the library budget; keep accurate detailed records.
- Supervise library staff (assistants, associates, student aides), clearly communicate duties and responsibilities, and schedule instruction.
- Attend faculty meetings, participate in curriculum planning, assist in school-wide events, attend district library meetings, and engage in professional development opportunities.
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Nevada teaching certificate and a Nevada Library Media Endorsement.

Position is for the 2026/27 school year, with an anticipated contract start after July 1, 2026. This Limited Term position ends June 2027. At conclusion, incumbents are eligible for exclusive transfer and overage processes. New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire; an approximate $58.50 is deducted from the first paycheck to defray fingerprinting costs. Fingerprint fees may change.
