Para educator Aide II
Under supervision, the Para educator Aide II assists teaching staff in a special education classroom with a variety of instructional activities. The aide provides individual or group assistance depending on the student or class’s functional living and academic skills and/or behavioral support needed. The aide may also provide attendant services to students with intellectual and/or physical disabilities and perform related work as required.

The aide works in specific specialized programs such as CLS (Comprehensive Life Skills), EC (Early Childhood), MA (Multi-Age), SIP (Social Intervention Programs), Strategies (Autism Spectrum Disorders), Social Resource and/or Resource classrooms, as well as one‑on‑one assistance. Working at a Title I school requires high qualification. The aide may act as a liaison between general education teachers, resource teachers, preview instructional information, and attend seminars and conferences.
Responsibilities- Assist students with intellectual, physical, or behavioral disabilities in boarding and de‑boarding buses, locating school sites, and accompanying them into general education classrooms.
- Provide attendant services such as diapering, toileting, washing faces, and supporting instruction in health and hygiene habits.
- Perform delegated procedures (e.g., clean intermittent catheterization) and provide emergency and first‑aid care as necessary.
- Move students weighing 50‑80 pounds daily and repetitively while following safety procedures.
- Prepare food and assist in feeding students as needed.
- Support instruction in functional life skills and modify classroom assignments when needed.
- Follow behavior plans outlined in IEPs, using positive behavior management techniques.
- Assist with lesson assignments, reinforce learning concepts, and maintain discipline in playgrounds, lunchrooms, libraries, and classrooms.
- Accompany students on field trips and adjust wheelchairs, oxygen hoses, and other equipment.
- Communicate with teachers about student concerns and observations.
- Assist with bulletin boards, medication administration (when trained), classroom equipment, and assistive technology devices.
- Record student progress toward goals and prepare graphs and charts.
- Assist in curriculum modification, participate in district training, and implement non‑violent behavioral intervention procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- EC – Early Childhood/Pre‑K – Provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum for three‑five‑year‑olds, covering literacy, math readiness, motor skills, self‑help, communications, and social skills.
- EC SIP – Early Childhood/SIP – Combines EC and SIP practices, focusing on social‑emotional development and serving students with behavioral challenges in a small group setting.
- EC STRAT – Early Childhood/Strategies – Focuses on communication and social‑emotional skills using various strategies, serving students with deficits such as Autism.
- IEC – Early Childhood/Pre‑K Inclusion – Provides services to three‑five‑year‑olds receiving specialized instruction with typically developing peers.
- IK – Integrated Kindergarten – Co‑teaching model addressing all developmental areas plus kindergarten standards.
- CLS – Comprehensive Life Skills – Builds a foundation for success, aligning IEP goals with alternative grade‑level indicators and utilizing varied modalities.
- SIP – Social Intervention Program – Offers academic and emotional/behavioral support across settings, using a structured behavior management program.
- Strategies – Supports students on the autism spectrum with structured, intensive instruction in language, routines, academics, and social skills.
- Social Resource – Emphasizes social skills through visual supports, modeling, role‑playing, and targeted behavioral interventions.
