Under the general direction of the Director of the Northwest Regional Professional Development Program, the Regional Trainer plans, develops, coordinates, and implements functions related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment for grades K‑12. This role serves certified teachers and administrators in Carson City, Churchill Douglas, Lyon, Storey, and Washoe school districts. The Facilitator supports educators using research‑based instructional practices—with a specific focus on literacy and math instruction—while also leading the regional National Board Certification cohort.

This position builds instructional capacity by mentoring educators, modeling accomplished teaching practices, and managing the team of Candidate Support Providers (CSPs) across Northern Nevada. The position requires a flexible work schedule, including availability outside of traditional contract hours (evenings, weekends, and occasional school breaks), to effectively support educators and professional learning activities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership:
    Plans, organizes, and facilitates professional development programs across all academic areas, with a prioritized focus on the ELA, Mathematics, and the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS).
  • Evidence‑Based Practice:
    Develops and delivers high‑quality training sessions that translate educational research into actionable classroom strategies.
  • On‑Site

    Coaching:

    Provides support through side‑by‑side coaching, modeling lessons, and observing classroom instruction to provide constructive feedback.
  • Curriculum Alignment:
    Assists districts and schools in aligning local curriculum and instructional delivery with school performance plans, state standards, and regional goals.
Professional Learning & Content Support
  • Instructional Leadership:
    Plans, organizes, and facilitates professional development programs across all academic areas, with a prioritized focus on the ELA, Mathematics, and the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS).
  • Evidence‑Based Practice:
    Develops and delivers high‑quality training sessions that translate educational research into actionable classroom strategies.

National Board Certification (NBC) Program Management
  • Cohort Leadership:
    Serves as the primary lead for the Northwest Nevada National Board cohort, overseeing the recruitment, registration, and retention of candidates.
  • Personnel Management:
    Directs and coordinates the work of Candidate Support Providers (CSPs) across the region; provides training and oversight to ensure CSPs are delivering consistent, high‑quality support to National Board candidates.

    Collaboration:

    Acts as the primary liaison between the NWRPDP, the Nevada Department of Education, and national organizations regarding National Board standards and candidate progress.
  • Technical Assistance:
    Facilitates specialized workshops for National Board components and manages the logistical needs of the regional cohort.
Collaboration & Strategic Outreach
  • Regional Partnership:
    Works closely with other RPDP Regional Trainers across the state to ensure a cohesive professional development message and shared resources.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Communicates regularly with regional district leadership, school administrators, and teachers to assess professional learning needs and evaluate the impact of NWRPDP services.
Data‑Driven Improvement
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of professional development programs using participant feedback and student achievement data.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Literacy, Mathematics, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
  • Experience:
