Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Genotyping Specialist with the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources. This position reports to Dr. Brad Ferguson.
Genotyping Specialist supports the Nevada Center for Cardiovascular Research at UNR’s School of Medicine by providing technical training, consultation, and operational oversight related to phenotyping equipment and transgenic mouse models. Responsibilities include training researchers on advanced laboratory equipment (e.g., ddPCR, echocardiography, telemetry systems), managing complex mouse colonies, and performing molecular biology techniques such as genotyping and PCR. The role also involves advising investigators on experimental design, breeding strategies, and data interpretation.
The position plays a key role in supporting research productivity through accurate recordkeeping, data reporting, and coordination of core services.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of related work experience, OR
- Master’s Degree and 2 years of related work experience
