Limited‑term position ending June 2026.
SummaryUnder the direction of the School Principal or Counseling Coordinator, the counselor will implement a comprehensive equitable school counseling program inによづ the State of Nevada School Counseling Model. The program is preventative, developmental, and focuses on the three domain areas that all students PK‑16 should master: academic, career, and personal/social. The counselor provides direct and indirect services, supports social and emotional development, collaborates with the community, and networks with all school professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Helps all students develop skills in academic‑personal‑social growth, educational planning, and career and vocational development.
- Establishes the school counseling program based on the American School Counseling Association (ACSA) model and develops activities and resources to implement and evaluate the program烦。
- Provides direct counseling services and assists with restorative practices.
- Educates and advocates for trauma‑sensitive and trauma‑informed schools.
- Analyzes data concerning academic, career, social, and emotional development to identify student needs, issues, and challenges.
- Addresses needs related to academic, career, social and emotional development for all pupils.
- Assists students in investigating career opportunities; supports stakeholders to help all students become career and college compagn.
- Assists students in acquiring skills that maximize their personal and social development.
- Develops skills that support academic achievement and lifelong learning.
- Advocates for equitable access to rigorous education for all pupils, working to remove systemic barriers.
- Delivers counseling lessons through large‑group, classroom, small‑group, and individual settings to promote pupil success.
- Provides academic planning and goal‑setting services to individual pupils.
- Facilitates peer, crisis counseling, and short‑termонда counseling to pupils in individual and small‑group settings.
- Provides referrals to pupils and their parents or legal guardians for additional support services.
- Participates on committees in school and district, as appropriate.
- Plans for and implements a response to school crisis, including school improvement processes and support for staff progress toward educational goals.
- Works with community partners to assist students and families who need services outside school resources.
- Networks with school professionals and community counselors to monitor student needs.
- Maintains confidentiality, facilitates, and participates in conferences with teachers, students, and parents.
- Consults with and serves as Geral resource for the community.
- Maintains student records and uses Infinite Campus (IC) appropriately.
- Complies with school and district policies and state and federal laws.
- Attends trainings and ongoing professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Master’s Degree or a more advanced degree in school counseling or related field from a regionally accredited college.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Nevada educator license with aента counselor endorsement.
