Thoracic Surgeon Academic Level II Trauma Center in Reno​/Tahoe

The Renown Medical Group Department of Surgery is searching for an outstanding Thoracic Surgeon within the Surgical Oncology Division and the William N Pennington Cancer Institute.

The Thoracic Surgeon is expected to be an expert in medical and surgical care for patients diagnosed with benign and oncologic thoracic diseases. The Surgeon will diagnose, treat, and manage malignant and benign Thoracic surgical diseases for patients. The medical director is expected to collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers and can expect to have some involvement with public health education, administration, teaching, and research.

The ideal candidate will be a board-certified Thoracic Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years experience and have Completed an accredited general surgery residency and a Thoracic surgery fellowship. Incumbents must possess a strong work ethic with a focus on quality. Collegiality is expected. This position is non-cardiac, purely thoracic surgery.

The candidate is expected to qualify for an academic appointment with the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) medical School, build and promote a clinical trial portfolio, contribute to the growth of the William N Pennington Cancer Institute, contribute to the Division of Surgical Oncology, and participate in the educational goals of medical students and residents. They will also attend tumor boards as a contributing physician and work closely with the pulmonary, Acute care, trauma, and critical care teams.

The position also includes new patient consults and follow up appointments in the Outpatient Clinic. Physician will have efficient ancillary support staff in place - surgery schedulers, MAs, RN, APPs, PARS, practice site leaders and practice manager.
